Howard N Hughes On vacation on the Med coast in Spain I was listening to Bandcamp Weekly hosted by Melbourne's Harvey Sutherland when this track started playing. I was sitting watching the waves lap up on the shore Blues for Alfie was ambient chilling music I pre-ordered the album which is due out a week after I get home... memories of a fantastic few weeks exploring Spain & enjoying life.

Hush Hush is honored to help present 'Pratunam,' a collaborative release between Nick Sheppard and Marigold Sun.

Bristol, UK-born musician Nick Sheppard is the former guitarist of influential punk band The Cortinas and former lead guitarist for legendary group The Clash. Now residing in Perth, Western Australia, Nick continues to thrive in music, playing in several bands and DJing at Perth’s underground venues.

Marigold Sun is the alias of NYC-based Singaporean-Australian musician Eric Li Harrison, a Hush Hush alum who unveiled his debut solo album 'Swimming' in summer 2021. Supported by crews such as Ninja Tune, RVNG Intl., and Mood Hut, the 10-track record served as an introduction to his warm, blissful, piano-soaked instrumental music that explores a cinematic intersection between neo-classical, jazz, ambient, and downtempo styles.

Nick and Eric’s collaboration began as an experiment in quarantine composition as the two embraced a 12-hour time difference between their respective homes to discover a common sonic language that resonated with both artists. Well-known for his role in explosive punk rock bands throughout his storied career, Nick leaned into Marigold Sun’s serene compositions to create calming yet lyrical guitar lines that marks his most restrained material to date.

The result is 'Pratunam,' a dreamy post-rock record full of breezy guitar improvisations and lush Balearic-tinted beats. Named after a colorful neighborhood and marketplace in Bangkok, the EP is rooted in the fond memories the two musicians experienced while visiting Thailand in 2019, just prior to the global COVID-19 lockdown. Although working remotely, the camaraderie between the two musicians is palpable and effortless, their instrumental talents gelling in sublime fashion.

Existing in a timeless realm that reveals shades of Gaussian Curve, The Durutti Column, and Steve Hiett’s cult classic 'Down On The Road By The Beach,' 'Pratunam' finds two talented musicians from different generations and distinctive backgrounds joining forces to create beautiful, expressive, hypnotic music.
