The latest statement from Seattle's Sax G (aka G Sexton Brown) comes in the form of 'Lullaby of the Forbidden Dancer,' a warm and hypnotic 4-song release inspired by a series of his own short stories that have now been transposed and conveyed through his most comfortable medium: sound. With a background rooted in a nomadic childhood that led him all over the world and opened his ears to a vast array of genres and colors on the sound spectrum, Sax G has emerged as a confident, chameleonic artist. While his early music years found him showcasing his verbal talents on the mic, his recent creations continue to place his evolving production skills in the spotlight.

Driven by a desire to create a timeless aesthetic, the sound on 'Lullaby' explores his own unique approach to sample-based beats. His love for soulful dusty grooves runs deeply throughout, undoubtedly a reflection upon the legacy of J Dilla, as the random purchase of a Slum Village album in 1998 still proves pivotal in Sax G's memory, life, and art. 'Lullaby' opens in similar fashion to Sax's 2013 breakout solo release 'Tu Me Manques,' with a female whispering quietly in French before her voice becomes engulfed in the smooth, spacious, and tone-setting vibe of "Sax's Heartbeat Too." "Lullaby…" and its partner "…Of The Forbidden Dancer" follow suit, further displaying Sax's ability to communicate more with less, his precisely chopped loops and impossibly lush textures patiently ebb, flow, and build to paint a mesmerizing and deceptively complex picture. "Quotient" closes out the set with a yearning iconic vocal sample flipped to perfectly glide over the track's silky synths and glistening melodies.

Clocking in at just under 10 minutes, 'Lullaby of the Forbidden Dancer' is a brief yet thoroughly transportive journey through Sax G's sonic world, and also serves as an appetizer for his forthcoming album due out later this year.
