Beat Tape #1 is the debut release from j.Faraday aka blossoming 21 year-old, Houston-based beatmaker Javier Escareno. Initially inspired by the early productions of Kanye West, he's taken a love for emotional vocal samples and larger-than-life drumwork and applied his own distinctive chopping style and ominous atmospheres to create beats that carry a slowed Houston vibe while also garnering early comparisons to Clams Casino with his anything-goes sampling approach and ethereal, blown-out, bass-heavy creations. A prolific producer, Beat Tape #1 features 20 hand-picked beats from his earliest efforts to offer a glimpse into this emerging producer's unique vision.

This album is a perfect example of early Future Funk and I wish we would’ve seen more like this. Sample usages are creative and catchy, with some synths added in occasionally to tie everything together. Really makes me wish Childhood would have made more music. 9/10 TimTheToast
